Cheyenne Village, Inc., a local 501(c)(3), the largest and oldest provider of residential services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Colorado Springs is seeking qualified applicants for Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions.  As a DSP you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This position is responsible for Group Residential Services & Support (GRSS), assuring the health, safety and welfare of person(s) receiving services. Provides hands on assistance to individual's with high medical and physical needs, including the implementation of service and support plans, while ensuring individuals health and safety is monitored and protected at all times. Supports and assists individuals in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, use of the restroom, social skills, food preparation, recreation, and leisure interests. This position also includes assisting individuals with high support needs and often time repositioning them in their bed or chair. At times, you will use durable medical equipment (DME) to assist the individual, to include the use of hoyer lifts, blood pressure cuffs, medical bed adjustments and oxygen tanks.

Physical demands would include frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting at times. Exert force and/or lifts or carries objects up to 10 pounds constantly, 10-20 pounds frequently and 20-50 pounds occasionally.

The salary starts at $19.54 per hour.

Skills / Requirements

Experience in human services or related field preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and e-mail.

Maintains acceptable criminal background and Department of Motor Vehicle checks. Maintain valid US driver's license.

Important Notes

Must be 18 years of age.  Must become CPR, First Aid and QMAP certified.  Certifications and training are paid for by Cheyenne Village, Inc.
