ABOUT OUR AGENCY

In 1967, with cooperation from The Resources Exchange and the Arc of the Pikes Peak Region, the Cheyenne Foundation was created. This organization was the first residential training center for adults with developmental disabilities in Colorado Springs. In March of 1971, the Board of Directors purchased the 16-acre McLaughlin Lodge in Manitou Springs Colorado to allow for expansion of the agency.  With this property, a pilot project was established to demonstrate that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) could live independently in cabins with 24/7 staff care.  Here, they developed activities of daily living and job training. On April 1, 1971, the Board of Directors changed the name to Cheyenne Village Inc. and became the first licensed provider approved service agency in the state of Colorado. Since that time, we have grown tremendously, serving individuals throughout El Paso County in various setting types, which include; Host Homes, independent apartment living, and nine staffed Cheyenne Village-owned homes. Our humble beginnings have evolved into one of the largest residential providers in Colorado Springs.  

HOST HOME PROVIDER-WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE HOME

Cheyenne Village is looking for a Host Home Provider, either an individual or family, who are wanting to make a difference in the life of an adult with IDD and physical disabilities while having the satisfaction of owning their own business.  We are searching for Host Home providers with wheelchair accessible homes and experience with individuals with high medical needs to provide daily supervision, medication administration, meal preparation, and community activities. Individuals will require assistance with personal hygiene and lifting and transferring. With the support of a Cheyenne Village team, you will become a trusted Host Home Provider and advocate to a disabled adult.

Host Home providers must be 21 years of age or older.

Host Home Providers are Independent Contractors. As a contractor, you can earn between $3,444 - $6,573 per month with an additional room and board stipend depending on the needs of the individual you support.

Skills / Requirements

WE DO HAVE SOME REQUIREMENTS

Experience in human services or related field preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Outlook e-mail.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

A background check is required for the following:

  • Criminal Background Investigation Check (CBI)
  • Department of Motor Vehicle Check (DMV)
  • Colorado Adult Protective Services Check (CAPS)
  • Department of Regulatory Agencies Check (DORA)

Must be 21 years of age.
